I just had my last chemo infusion yesterday and got my various doctors to coordinate two procedures and one surgery on January 21st. We all communicated all of the things we have to do (the hardest part of dealing with medical issues is coordination!). My surgery prep sounds daunting, drinking 128 ounces of laxative and gatorade!
Our flight leaves February 2nd. We fly through LAX to Lima and then on to Cuzco, arriving the next day. I will not be allowed to carry anything, having recently gotten out of surgery, and sleeping a few hours at the airport doesn't sound too fun, but we've done it before and our family is resourceful and rugged. We are only bringing backpacks (well, Matt may back a large duffel bag too, we'll see). We will ship school textbooks and other items once we secure an address in our final destination, which may be Pisac or Calca, Peru.
Things are going to be quite hectic from now until the day we leave!
Wish us luck that the timing of all of the prep works out!

Get Ready...Get Set...
As the Hasties prepare for the big adventure of 2011, we are setting up communciation tools to keep in touch with our friends and family while we are gone. This blog is the first step. Please add it to your favorites or "follow" it if you like.
Expect essays on our experiences from all four of us, including assigned reports from the girls as part of their "home school" homework.
We hope you enjoy our efforts!
Love, Cathy, Matt, Katie and Georgia
